Take a ride on the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, a nine-mile round-trip that will bring you to Pikes Peak’s 14,115-foot summit. You’ll travel through Englemann Canyon and the Pike National Forest and be treated to views of unique rock formations, high-elevation flora and fauna, and historical landmarks. At the summit, you’ll be able to get out, walk around, and enjoy sweeping 360-degree views of the region, from the far eastern plains to the Continental Divide along the snow-capped Rocky Mountains.
The temperature at the summit is typically 20-30 degrees colder than the base station in Manitou Springs, so jackets are highly encouraged.
Regardless of age and fitness level, lightheadedness and disorientation can occur due to the high elevation, so those with health conditions should proceed with caution. Drinking lots of water is the best way to avoid the effects of altitude.
April 17, 1:00-5:00 pm | $220
